It's a date

I got a text message from Katie about a week ago that said "Mom offically has a date"!!!
WOW!!! ok so, i have to admit, when I first heard it, I was thinking NO..... I don't want mom to go on a date. Kind of like when I threw a fit when she told me she was getting married to Tom (my step-dad) and told her I wasn't going to the wedding!!! I ended up being the only one of the 9 girls that didn't get a new dress because I was to stubborn and wasn't going!!!!!!

My next feeling was total fear for her!!! It's been so long since she has been on a date!!! She and Tom were married for (humm, i don't know over 15 years)!!! I was having anxiety for her, while all of my sisters were so excited and enjoying every minute of getting her ready for the big date!
All day yesterday I kept telling my kids, "grandma has a date tonight" they didn't quite understand why it was such a big deal. I asked them if they wanted her to go on a date and they said "i don't know".

It's been 5 years since Tom passed away and my mom has spent all of that time with kids and grandkids and not much of that time on herself. She has said a number of times "I don't need to get married again but I wouldn't mind having someone to go to movies or dinner with." So, last night was the night!!! It's almost 10:00 am here in Ohio too early to call her and see how it went!!! Waiting very impatiently to either call her or one of my sisters....

Last night my sisters said, mom couldn't decide what to wear. She was nervous but excited. And most importantly, she wasn't going to get any action!!! Whew!!!!!!!

Well, i'm over the fear and anxiety and just happy that my mom was able to meet someone that hopefully, she can have some good times and see some movies with.

Totally agree, and must admit I'm a little sad. BUT, your grandma and ok, what the heck was that cute old man's name??? LOU!!! Ha ha I remembered right before I pressed "publish"...were so cute, and your mom has another 20 years at least, she needs to have fun! So that's why you didn't get a new dress! :-) I didn't want them to either, but I'm glad they did. Love ya.

It went great!!! They went to dinner at Trio? Then Baskin Robbins for ice cream and then when he brought her home, he stayed for about an hour and I guess they just hung out and talked. They are going out again next week!!

I was also a little sad but excited for her. I often think about how lonely she must get. Sometimes kids and grandkids just aren't enough.

Josh Lee says hello and I hope you continue to hsve a great time.
