The next morning we got up and I-80 was still closed but we decided to risk it and see how far we could get. We drove about 100 miles and made it to Lincoln, Nebraska but couldn't go any farther. We drove around trying to decide what to do. Again, nothing was open so we only had the few snacks that we had packed to bring with us until we finally found a food court on the side of the road that was open. Yay!!! Yuck!!! We had heard that I-80 would open up around 6pm so we decided to see if we could get a nap in so we would be able to drive all night and make it to Utah early Sunday morning. We found a parking lot which happened to be at Nebraska University and tried to sleep. Eventually we found a hotel that let us hangout in the lobby and use the pool until we decided what to do next which led to checking in to the hotel only to find out 45 minutes later that I-80 had opened!!! UGGGG!!! So frustrating!!! Well, went to bed at 7:30 that night and got up at 2:15 Utah time and got back on the road, finally pulling in to Brandon's dad's house in Heber at about 3:00 Sunday afternoon!!! Wow, what a trip. Luckily the drive home was much easier!!!!
We spent all the time we had there with family but gave up one night to go to dinner with a few friends that we hadn't seen in a long time. My oldest sister Heather turned 40 (sorry, heath if you didn't want me to put your age here) and Mica had planned a nice lunch for her with all the sisters and some of her friends. It was fun to be able to celebrate with her.
We spent some time going out with my sisters and their husbands and spent New Years eve partying at Beatle and Jasons. We haven't spend the holidays with family for so long, it was a lot of fun!!!
