Mr. Johson the the rescue

Yesterday it was so cold here!!! The high was supposed to get up to 10 degrees but I don't think it ever did.

Mitch had basketball practice and B was out of town so the kids and I piled in  Brandon's car.  I wasn't planning on staying at the practice I was just going to drop him off and come back in an hour so I wasn't going to take anything with me but at the last second I decided to go back in and grab my purse (with my wallet & cell in it).

We walked Mitch in and Ali decided she wanted to stay and watch so of course we did.  His practice lasted an hour and we headed for home.  It was about 8:15 by the time we got there, 1 degree (or so I thought) and dark.  I had been doing P90X yoga before we left and all I had on was my workout clothes I didn't even take a coat but luckily I had gloves in my purse.

I pulled in the driveway, got out of the car and punched in the garage code and ..........the door wouldn't open.  Tried a few more times........nothing.  I got back in the car and Mitch got out an tried a few times....nothing..... Then Ali ......nothing..
Now, Brandon out of town with my car and the garage door opener..I lost my key chain that had our only house key on in a few months (think i threw it away), all the doors and windows locked!! No way to get it!!!!

We kept trying in the same routing Haley, Mitch, Ali over and over for about 20 minutes.  i was getting worried. It's freezing outside, what are we going to do. B wouldn't be home until tomorrow night.  Where were we going to sleep and wait for him to get home.  Luckily I had decided to go back in before and get my purse at least we would be able to get gas and keep warm in the car...I was seriously having so many thoughts.

We decided it was time to call for help so Mitch called our good friends the Johnsons.  "Mr. Johnson, we need help"!!! (he could have asked a little nicer). We waited in the car still keeping the Mom, Mitch, Ali routine until Dave got here to help.  Tried the code again..nothing..he tried lifting....nope...he pushed the code and listened to see if he could hear the door trying to open...NADA.....I think it must be frozen!!!

Mr. J said maybe it's the battery "do you have a phillips screwdriver"? I checked the car..nope. He didn't either.  He ran home and got one, opened up the battery "thing" (what do you  call that where the battery is) and of course the smallest weirdest battery we have ever seen..

Mr. J being the nice person he is said take the kids to my house and I will get a new battery and change it for you.  Hopefully that is the problem...I took the kids over and felt bad that he was doing everything. I told him I would go get the  battery but he said he would do it.
So, then he had to be out in the freezing cold trying to fix my garage door while I was sitting hanging with my friend (his wife) Deedi (and a warm blanket) in their warm house!

Mr. J walked in the house a while later and......................... "you're in" he said!!!! YAY!!!!
I seriously can't tell you how happy I was and how appreciative I was to him!!! We finally got home I think about 10:30 and I check the temp -1 degree!!!

ps. i totally could have fixed the battery without help and I even thought about it but I truly thought it was frozen!!!!
